We are proud to announce that the Supply Chain Intelligence Institute Austria (ASCII) has been selected as one of just 30 “Danube Lighthouses” in the research initiative “Identification of Lighthouse Projects in the Danube Region and Communication Measures – PA 08.”
This recognition goes beyond its title: it highlights our role as a pioneer in innovation and successful technology transfer in Europe.
This is how we make an impact:
– We strengthen supply chains – not just against crises, but for long-term resilience.
– We translate data into strategic supply chain intelligence for policymakers and businesses.
– We demonstrate how knowledge can be turned into impact.
Our role has now been officially recognized:
Within the study “Identification of Lighthouse Projects in the Danube Region”, ASCII was selected as one of 30 lighthouse projects that serve as models for innovation and successful technology transfer in Europe.
Lighthouse Projects stand out for their innovative, practical solutions and set new benchmarks across industries.
This study—commissioned by Priority Area 8 of the EU Danube Region Strategy and coordinated by the Steinbeis Europe Center—aims to identify outstanding initiatives across key fields such as:
Green tech, circular economy & bioeconomy
Digitalization, artificial intelligence, metaverse & virtual worlds
Supply chains and finance
As part of its role, the Steinbeis Europe Center leads the methodology and scoring of projects, generates the final study and project presentations, and organizes workshops with international stakeholders to increase the visibility of the selected lighthouse initiatives.
The award of the EUSDR PA 8 Lighthouse Certificate—endorsed by Steinbeis Europe Center, Pannon Business Network, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, and the Priority Area 8 Secretariat—recognizes the innovation, impact, and exemplary role of our work.
Klaus Friesenbichler, Deputy Director of ASCII, received the certificate at the official ceremony in Sarajevo.

We are both honored by this recognition and motivated to continue advancing resilient, efficient, and sustainable supply chains in the Danube region and beyond.
