After completing his studies, Franz held various management positions in business in Austria and abroad for 15 years. He moved to the FH Upper Austria 20 years ago. There he developed the first degree program in logistics in Austria, which today includes a bachelor’s and two master’s programs. Today, he heads the Logistikum Competence Center, the largest research and training institute in the field of logistics and SCM in Austria, with 60 employees and an established international network and scientific centers in the USA and Asia.The institution focuses on supply chain management, data analytics & foresight and transport & logistics management. Franz himself focuses on SCM and networks. He has founded several non-profit and profit companies and is currently a partner in the consulting firm syncrona, which focuses on effective ERP systems. As chairman, he heads the largest Austrian economic logistics association VNL Ö.
Franz is a lecturer at the main university on the Steyr campus as well as at several institutions. In projects, he always seeks the effective symbiosis of high scientific competence with high economic competence to create innovative solutions. Franz is regarded as a constant innovator in the field of logistics. The high volatility of the social and economic environment in recent years has been an essential part of his activities in recent years as an expert in state crisis and disaster management and in several research projects. His current focus is on developing an integrated view of the volatile environment and its impact on supply chains and value networks.
